WWE felt they had to release around 20 superstars and many more from behind the scenes in January, but now it seems as though they are recruiting once more.

And one star they retain an interest in is one of the recently departed employees – No Way Jose.

According to a report from Fightful, WWE are interested in re-signing the 32-year-old. He was part of the roster cuts that look place back in April, but unlike many of the other talents, he did not head to IMPACT or, in Miro’s case, AEW.

Since leaving WWE, Jose has been competing on the indies as Levy Valnez. It’s believed the North Carolina native was well-liked in the NXT and RAW locker rooms and could be a valuable piece.

WWE recently filled to trademark ‘The Way’ and fans have speculated that the phrase my be associated with a revamped gimmick.

However, at this time, Jose’s return or the linked new gimmick have not been confirmed.

It’s curious that WWE would target Jose once again after his initial run. While he had a mildly popular gimmick in NXT with his conga line, he was never booked with any authority or conviction on the main roster.

He featured on RAW for two years but never put together a consistent run on the show. He was mostly used as an enhancement talent and featured more prominently on Main Event.

However, Jose does have good charisma and great size, too. He’s a legitimate six-foot-three and the three years he spent on NXT showed he can work and work very well.

WWE obviously feel they need to fill out their roster following the recent brand split at the start of October, but is Jose the answer? With a new gimmick and a new direction, he just might be.
