Watch slow-motion footage of world-class Conor McGregor dismantling Donald Cerrone in last fight as he gears up for UFC 257 clash with Dustin Poirier

Conor McGregor will be back in the UFC octagon this weekend, a year on since he produced one the most electrifying comebacks his sport has ever seen.

The 32-year-old dispatched UFC legend Donald Cerrone in just 40 seconds and left Cowboy with a six-month medical suspension such was the damage caused.

The Irishman was saying all the right things before the fight about taking his training seriously and being super focused – and he proved those words to be far from hollow.

McGregor will be back under the lights this weekend as he headlines UFC 257 with a clash against old foe Dustin Poirier on Fight Island.

Ahead of that blockbuster clash, MMA fans can enjoy seeing what ‘The Notorious’ does best.

Take a look:

Conor McGregor vs Dustin Poirier will take place in the early hours of Sunday morning for UK fight fans.

McGregor has vowed to put on a show when he finally gets back inside the octagon, tweeting in early January: “I promise a masterpiece.”

He later added that he will make light work of his lightweight opponent, predicting it will be over in 60 seconds.

And if McGregor puts on a show and is ultimately successful, then a rematch against Khabib Nurmagomedov could be next.

“You can say whatever you want, but Conor McGregor vs Khabib is a massive fight,” UFC president Dana White said.

“And if Conor wins in spectacular fashion, it would be harder to say he doesn’t deserve the shot.”

Poirier, though, is a different man to the one he faced six years ago.

“I don’t know how that plays out now in the fight, but it’s definitely interesting,” White commented in December.

“You can’t look at the first fight and go, ‘Oh, this is exactly the way that’s gonna go again.’ Because it won’t.”
