Sasha Banks and Bayley have undoubtedly been two of the top stars – if not THE top two stars for WWE in the dreaded ‘pandemic era’.
Drew McIntyre has had a great 2020 too, but Bayley and Banks have had a story play out over the course of the year that has been proven to be the most compelling stuff on TV.
Even with the most controversial American presidential election in recent history transpiring, Bayley and Banks helped SmackDown rise in the ratings after having a segment top 2.5 million viewers last week – the most on WWE TV since March when the pandemic began.
Furthermore, they were involved in the highest rated NXT segment of the year, too.
Banks spoke to Stephanie Chase of Digital Spy this week and opened up about the stellar Hell in a Cell match she and Bayley put on last month.
“I am extremely happy with the Hell in a Cell match,” Sasha Banks told Digital Spy exclusively. “Bayley is absolutely my favourite opponent of all time and it went just exactly how I wanted.
“To have that Hell in a Cell with her was incredible. I love that match and I loved the outcome of the match.
“For any new fan watching, especially women, I think it’s so cool to see women do it better than the guys,” Sasha
“For my match to be so well-received and for fans to say that I had the match of the night… it’s just incredible to be a part of this Women’s Evolution where just non-stop fans talk about the women and how incredible that we do.”
Many fans have suggested that Bayley and Banks is a feud that deserves to shine on the grandest stage of WrestleMania.
It is one of the few female rivalries WWE has that could easily main event their biggest event, but will it happen now that we’ve already had the Hell in a Cell match and subsequent blow off to the feud?
When asked if a WrestleMania match between her and Bayley was the ultimate goal, Sasha said: “I just want to have the most fun time that I can have in WWE,
“Whether that’s Bayley at WrestleMania, whether that’s Liv Morgan, whether that’s Ruby Riott – it could be anybody.
“But, of course, to main event WrestleMania is still one of my biggest dreams and to do that with Bayley would be ultimately a dream come true.”
