As coronavirus raged on, many workers were forced to work from home and fortunately, tax relief can be claimed for certain elements of this set up.
Due to the sheer amount of people affected by this, claiming tax relief for working from home has reportedly exploded in recent months and as such, HMRC have launched a new service to cope with the demand.
A new microservice has been launched to simplify the tax claim process and when Martin looked into it, he found users could automatically claim tax relief for the whole year, even if they’ve only been required to work from home for a single day thus far.
As this seemed doubtful, Martin spoke with HMRC who confirmed the following: “We recognise that the working from home situation is very fluid this year, so we’re accepting claims for the full year’s expenses.
