The lucky eleven slipped on their aprons back in July and panto boss Lottie, from West Sussex, revealed they bonded straight away thanks to the unusual circumstances.

Lottie, 31, said: “As a group we got really close really quickly because we were all living together and that made it feel extra special.”

No doubt the series 11 bakers felt in safe hands with Hampshire lad Dave, 30, also in the 2020 line up. He’s an armoured guard who admitted he only learned how to cook when he moved out of his mum’s house.

And he said he’s now fulfilled a “life long dream” by meeting his celebrity hero and Bake Off host Noel Fielding.

The Bake Off 2020 contestants also come with emotional backstories.

Cornwall sculptor and support worker Marc, 51, is a single parent to two inspiring daughters who convinced him to take up his favourite hobbie climbing again despite him losing his leg.

Personal tragedy, including losing his leg in a motorbike accident in 2016, led him to baking bread as a form of therapy, and from there he came to baking cakes and pastries.

He said about entering the show: “Being surrounded by 11 other great people, all in the competition with me, I just remember feeling a very positive and exciting energy in the tent.”

Elsewhere, radiographer Loriea, 27, moved to the UK when she was 15 years old, but began baking at age five with her grandmother in Jamaica.

The group have been tasked with making a bust of their celebrity heroes as one of their first tasks.

Don’t be surprised to see busts of Prue, or Noel, popping up on in the show’s first episode.

Pharmacy worker Sura, 31, confessed Prue was a huge inspiration for her taking up baking: “I was looking forward to meeting Prue the most. I have watched her for many years on TV and I just loved her passion for food and flavours and her immense knowledge on it all. She inspired a lot of my baking in my early 20s.”

The Sun revealed the 11 competitors entered the famous tents back in July, where they cooked for judges Paul Hollywood, 54, and Prue Leith, 80, in a brand new location in Essex.

The show charged ahead despite fears it wouldn’t return until 2021 owing to the coronavirus lockdown, as it wasn’t included in Channel 4’s autumn TV highlights.

However it was finally announced last week that Bake Off 2020 will kick off at 8pm on Tuesday September 22nd.
