It comes as the UK Government prepares to move into “phase two” of its coronavirus vaccine rollout. The next crucial phase will involve offering jabs to the next two priority groups: people older than 70 and the clinically extremely vulnerable.
NHS chief executive Sir Simon Stevens said the UK ambulance staff are “at breaking point”.
Adding that a coronavirus patient is being admitted to hospital “every 30 seconds”.
He added: “The facts are very clear and I’m not going to sugarcoat them.
“Hospitals are under extreme pressure and staff are under extreme pressure.”
