As we’ve seen so many times before, wrestling can go wrong.
Yes, it’s scripted. But, we saw at Clash of Champions just how dangerous the performance can be.
The Street Profits defended the RAW Tag Team titles against Angel Garza and Andrade for what seemed the 100th time and the Mexican challengers seemed in fantastic form until the latter stages of the contest.
First of all, there was a Spanish Fly from the top rope with Garza and Montez Ford that seemed undercooked at best and saw Garza land square on his head.
A few moments later, Garza went to hit a rising knee on Ford and collapsed immediately.
It wasn’t long after that the referee had to raise the ‘X’ symbol which is the universal signal from officials in WWE that a competitor is seriously hurt.
Andrade of course got into the match and went at it with Angelo Dawkins who got a hot tag of his own.
After a back and forth, Dawkins went for the cover and although Andrade kicked out at two, the ref counted the three and ended the match.
As you can see, Dawkins was furious with the referee’s decision, possibly not aware of the injury to Garza or the severity of it.
Garza has burst onto the scene in WWE this year and started the year by winning the cruiserweight title in NXT, but he was quickly jettisoned to RAW under Paul Heyman.
Vince McMahon is known to believe Garza is a young Eddie Guerrero and that’s about the highest compliment possible for a latino wrestler in this day and age!
Mike Johnson of PW Insider immediately reported that Garza suffered a leg injury during the match and he was being worked on backstage. We’ll update you on Garza’s injury as soon we have the information.
